Charterhouse is an ideal place to start or develop your interest in astronomy, with its remote position offering unrestricted views and exceptionally low levels of light pollution.Join Maggy and Charles Daniell from MC2, the Astronomy Shop in Frome or one of the Charterhouse team on a journey of discovery through time and space. You will not only learn about galaxies and constellations, but a wide range of topics including birth and death of stars, and what exactly a black hole is.
Charterhouse is home to an impressive fully equipped observatory, which will be utilised during many of the courses.
Cosmic rambles will take you on an exploration of the Charterhouse reserves. You will find out how stars were seen and used by our ancestors. Have you ever wondered how ancient sailors found their way at night, or who is chasing a mythological queen across the night sky?
Whatever your age or level of knowledge, there is sure to be a course to help you get more out of the night sky.
